Pharmacokinetics

Today I will write about a topic related to my university career -Chemistry and Pharmacy-, it is a branch that calls my attention and is quite interesting, I am talking about pharmacokinetics.

Pharmacokinetics is currently defined as the study of the time course of drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion. In simple words, it is the branch of pharmacology that studies the processes to which a drug is subjected during its passage through the body. It explains what happens to a drug from the moment it is administered until its complete elimination from the body.

Its main objective is to improve drug efficacy and reduce the toxicity of a patient's drug treatment. Over time, the relationships between drug concentrations and drug responses have allowed doctors to apply pharmacokinetic principles to real patient situations. Knowledge of the principles of pharmacokinetics allows physicians to adjust doses more accurately and faster for their patients.

So, pharmacokinetics is a very important aspect of drug therapy and the diagnosis of the body functions, constitutes an important tool of clinical pharmacology and, therefore, an aid to all doctors.

Hi, this is me. I introduce myself; my name is Constanza, but everyone calls me Coni, I´m 18 years old and my birthday is on June 3rd. An expert/person in my field that I admire I think that in the short time I have been studying, I have not yet found a reference that causes me admiration, however I want to highlight an iconic woman in the chemical area, Marie Curie. She was a Polish scientist and naturalized French citizen , a pioneer in the field of reactivity, the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize, she received the Nobel Prize in chemistry for the discovery of two new chemical elements and the Nobel Prize in physics for her work on radiation. I consider her an admirable person because at that time, at the beginning of the 20th century, to be a scientist, academic or researcher was practically impossible, in her country women could not access higher education, and despite that, in what I consider an act of female empowerment, she went to France and managed to study at the university, demonstrating to have the same and better capabilities than men in the same area, and being recognized worldwide for her achievemen

A photo and its story This picture, or rather, what is in it is very important to me, it is a picture of Cristobal, my nephew, on his 11th birthday with his cat "Wilson" in his arms. The story of this picture is very special, my nephew since he was very young has loved animals, especially cats, he had long wanted to adopt one, but for space issues did not allow it, this year he asked many times to adopt one and for his birthday I looked for a kitten for him (because I had to give him the pleasure haha) and that made him very happy. It means a lot cause he is the most important person for me, he is like a little brother and the best company always hahaha. In the picture you can see how happy he was that day, for turning over a decade and for his new pet and seeing him like that makes me so happy.
